Week Fourteen

My time student teaching at Manteno Elementary School is almost over. It's been nothing but a great experience. I've improved my teaching abilities and have definitely improved many students abilities and knowledge. I've received many compliments from staff members throughout my 5 plus weeks here. Joining this staff come January is a true blessing and look forward to further my knowledge of teaching along aside of these wonderful people. My goal from last week was to make sure I prepare myself in numerous ways by updating documents and whatever else necessary to be fully prepared for my first parent teacher conferences. I feel as if I have met this requirement because I sat down with my cooperating teacher on these necessary updates to prepare not only me, but the both of us for these meetings.

Chapter 7 reminded me of something I didn't value when I was growing up. I took it for granted. Chapter 7 talks about how traveling brings different experiences that can be very beneficial and bring perspective in a variety of ways. Growing up, I was fortunate that I was able to see a lot of different things enhanced my overall learning. I went on all field trips as a young student. Back then, I didn't know there were plenty of students left behind until I asked my staff members. They informed me that almost 20 percent of students can afford or get the opportunity to attend field trips or special events that money is involved. This broke my heart, but it made realize how important it is for students to see outside things whether it benefits them as students or just overall individuals.

Week Twelve

This week we started really getting into our volleyball unit. With the second grade we taught them different ways to throw the ball over the net which was a necessary skill for a game call Newcomb we played on Wednesday and Thursday. The students really like this game. It's a modified game of volleyball but you throw the ball 3 times on each side instead of bumping, setting, spiking, and serving. The third and forth grade we started off having them serve early in the week and work them into playing an actually volleyball game later in the week. As this can be the very first time the third grade has ever played in a volleyball match before it was vital to be extremely clear while instructing. I improved throughout numerous times of instructing the material. My goal was to write at least one lesson plan. I achieved this goal. My new goal set for next week is communicate with parents and schedule parent meetings for parent conferences which is coming up in two weeks. Classroom Confi...
